While I have been writing The Golden Apples (the sequel to Behind the Sun) I have been distracted by wondering about how the Annomee got the way they are. Annomee Awakening is the result – co-written with my good friend, Jen Gasston.

Two years before the action begins in Behind the Sun, a group of young people are abducted and taken to Earth 2. The news of Earth 2’s discovery has not yet been leaked so none of them have any idea where they are.

The sound of an explosion, the walls of the plane disappearing into the gloom, are the first things that Melinda Phillips remembers as she awakes to find herself held captive on what appears to be Earth in the distant future (or past). Alliances are formed with other passengers; unlikely individuals such as Anthony Forsythe, who is under the cloud of a recent scandal, and Chloe Banac, a girl who has battled a debilitating disease all her life.
Embarking on their quest to escape and return to Earth, they encounter the treachery of those who should be their friends, and help comes from an unexpected source: the Annomee. They have yet to fully understand the implications of their regeneration and Chloe, overwhelmed by her feelings for a mysterious stranger, is faced with decisions she is ill prepared to take.
As they flee their captors and discover the secrets of this strange planet, they come to accept that they will be changed forever.
The Annomee series will follow their adventures until their lives intersect with those of the Millennium Team, in the sequel to Behind the Sun.
